Welcome to Board and Sorcery! These terms cover your use of boardandsorcery.com and every page on it, including the pages and free tools for our brands Pencil Links and QUAD. By using the site you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

Who we are

Board and Sorcery is an independent board game studio, Melbourne born and now established and operating in Finland. The site is run by Tim Campbell, trading as Board and Sorcery.

Our brands include Pencil Links, a series of roll & write golf books, and QUAD, a browser game. When these terms say "we", "us" or "Board and Sorcery", they include those brands.

Using the site

You're welcome to browse, read and use the free tools on this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't:

  • try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to the site or the servers it runs on;
  • use the site for anything unlawful, or to send spam or harmful code;
  • copy large parts of the site automatically (scraping), except as allowed below for search engines.

Our content

Unless we say otherwise, Board and Sorcery and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights in everything on this site, including our game names, logos, characters, artwork, rules, text and photos. All rights are reserved.

You must not:

  • copy or republish material from Board and Sorcery;
  • sell, rent or sub-license material from Board and Sorcery;
  • reproduce, duplicate or copy material from Board and Sorcery;
  • redistribute content from Board and Sorcery.

Images, artwork and AI training

We reserve all rights to the images on this site for text and data mining, under Article 4(3) of the EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market (2019/790). You may not use our images, artwork, characters, logos or photos to train, fine-tune or test artificial intelligence or machine learning models without our written permission. We also tell AI crawlers not to collect our images in our robots.txt file. Normal indexing by search engines, including image search, is fine.

Pencil Links free tools

The Pencil Links dice rollers, scorecard and course builder are free extras. They're provided as they are, without guarantees, and we may change or remove them at any time. Scores and hole designs are saved only in your own browser (see our Privacy Policy), so clearing your browser data will clear them.

Holes you design with the course builder are yours to print, play and share with friends. Please don't sell them or present them as official Pencil Links products. The Pencil Links name, layouts and artwork stay ours.

QUAD

QUAD is played at quadgame.online. Playing the game is covered by the terms on that site.

Buying our games and books

We don't sell products directly through this website at the moment.

  • Pencil Links is sold through Amazon. Buying it is an agreement between you and Amazon, on Amazon's terms.
  • For Treacherous Tides and our other games, email us. Any sale we make you will have its own terms, which we'll give you before you pay.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Links to other websites

This site links to other websites, such as quadgame.online (our QUAD game, which has its own terms), Amazon, YouTube and social media platforms. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices. Please check their policies when you visit.

Linking to our website

Anyone may link to our home page or any other page, as long as the link:

  • is not in any way deceptive;
  • does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement or approval by Board and Sorcery; and
  • does not appear on a site with unlawful, obscene or defamatory content.

Please don't use our logo or artwork in a link without our permission. We may ask you to remove a link to our site, and if we do, we expect you to remove it promptly. If you find a link on our site that you think is offensive or inappropriate, let us know.

Accuracy and availability

We do our best to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we don't guarantee that the information on it is complete or correct, or that the site will always be available. Game details, stages and release plans can change.

Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to our website and the use of this website. Nothing in this disclaimer will:

  • limit or exclude our or your liability for death or personal injury;
  • limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • limit any of our or your liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law;
  • exclude any of our or your liabilities that may not be excluded under applicable law; or
  • take away any rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you.

The limitations and prohibitions of liability set in this section and elsewhere in this disclaimer: (a) are subject to the preceding paragraph; and (b) govern all liabilities arising under the disclaimer, including liabilities arising in contract, in tort and for breach of statutory duty.

As long as the website and the information and tools on it are provided free of charge, we will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there or in Finland.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
